Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 2-for-5 for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 4-3 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (Dodgers) in the double-A Southern League on Friday night.

Szczur, who led off and played center field, is hitting .294 with two home runs, 18 RBIs, 24 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 38 games.

Darren Ford (Vineland) went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays) in the triple-A International League.

Ford, who led off as the designated hitter, is batting .256 with two triples, one home run, 10 runs scored, seven RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 23 games.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) started and took the loss for the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners) in a 5-1 defeat against the Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals) in the Class-A Midwest League.

DeCecco gave up six hits and four runs (three earned) in four innings. He struck out one and walked none, throwing 44 of his 56 pitches for strikes.

He is 3-4 with a 3.14 ERA in eight starts.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) is 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA in eight starts for the Lynchburg HillCats (Braves) in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League.

He has struck out 29 and walked 19 in 45 innings. His last start was Wednesday.
