Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 4-3 loss to the Jacksonville Suns (Marlins) in the double-A Southern League on Saturday night.

Szczur, who led off and played center field, is hitting .276 with 58 runs scored, 39 RBIs and 20 steals on 31 attempts in 104 games.

Darren Ford (Vineland) went 1-for-4 and was picked off first base for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in a 5-1 loss to the Louisville Bats (Reds) in the triple-A International League.

Ford, who led off and played center field, is hitting .227 with 23 runs scored, 15 RBIs and 21 stolen bases on 29 attempts in 64 games. He is hitting .333 with a .360 on-base percentage in his last 10 games.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) is scheduled to start today for the the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners) against the Kane County Cougars in the Class-A Midwest League.

The left-hander is 8-7 with a 4.25 ERA in 21 starts.In 114 1/3 innings, he has given up 114 hits, walked 38 and struck out 72.

Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) is 0-3 with a 5.60 ERA in 11 relief appearances for the Princeton Rays in the rookie-level Appalachian League.

The left-hander did not pitch Saturday in a 6-2 loss to the Burlington Royals.

In 17 2/3 innings, he has allowed 12 hits, 11 runs, walked seven and struck out 16. He has held opponents to a .190 batting average.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) started for the Lynchburg HillCats (Braves) in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League on Friday night against Salem and pitched three scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out four.

Holland was on a strict 50-pitch limit.

He is 4-7 with a 4.56 ERA in 20 starts . In 104 2/3 innings, Holland has given up 109 hits and 49 walks while striking out 71.
