Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) was 1-for-4 with a run scored for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 5-0 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (Dodgers) in the double-A Southern League on Thursday.

Szczur is hitting .277 with 75 runs scored, 42 RBIs and 21 stolen bases in 125 games.

Darren Ford (Vineland) did not play for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in an 11-inning, 3-2 win over the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers) in the triple-A International League on Thursday.

Ford, an outfielder, is hitting .231 with 18 RBIs, 35 runs scored and 27 stolen bases in 80 games.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) of the High Desert Mavericks (Mariners) in the Class-A Advanced California League is 10-8 with a 4.29 ERA in 26 starts overall this season.

In 1442/3 innings, he has given up 149 hits, walked 43 and struck out 87.

He also pitched 24 games for the Clinton LumberKings in the single-A Midwest League this season. He is 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA in two starts since his promotion. His last start was Monday.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) did not pitch for the Lynchburg Hillcats (Braves) in a doubleheader split with the Carolina Mudcats (Indians) in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League on Thursday.

He was 5-9 with a 4.91 ERA in 26 appearances, all but the last three of which were starts. In 117 1/3 innings, he has allowed 128 hits, walked 57 and struck out 78.

Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) pitched one inning of hitless, scoreless relief for the Princeton (W.Va.) Rays in a 3-2 loss to the Bristol White Sox in the rookie-level Appalachian League on Thursday.

He hit one batter and struck out one in his first appearance since Aug. 2.

Fischer is 0-3 with a 5.30 ERA in 12 relief appearances this season. In 182/3 innings, he has allowed 12 hits, walked seven and struck out 17.

Independent leagues (unaffiliated with MLB)

Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) did not play for the Schaumburg (Ill.) Boomers in a 3=2 win over the Frontier Greys on Thursday in the Frontier League.

Colon is hitting .262 with five home runs, 31 RBIs, five triples and 33 runs scored in 76 games.

Charlie Law (Mainland Regional) is 3-4 with a 3.20 ERA in seven starts for the Rockland Boulders in the Can-Am League.

Law started Wednesday and lost 4-3 to the Quebec Capitales, giving up four runs on six hits in six innings. He walked seven and struck out three. In 391/3 innings, he has given up 39 hits, walked 28 and struck out 21.
