Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) scored from first base on teammate Arismendy Alcantara's two-out double in the 10th inning to give the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) a 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Suns (Marlins) in the double-A Southern League on Friday night.

Szczur, who was batting leadoff and playing right field, was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the game, but he drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the 10th to set up the game-ending play.

Szczur is hitting .287 with 51 runs scored, 37 RBIs and 20 steals in 89 games.

Tennessee improved to 51-44 overall and 17-9 in the second half of the league's split season.

Darren Ford (Vineland) got a pinch-hit single and scored a run for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in a 4-3 loss to the Gwinnett Braves in a triple-A International League game.

Ford, an outfielder, is hitting .210 with 20 runs scored, 12 RBIs and 19 stolen bases in 54 games.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) was a hard-luck loser for the Clinton LumberKings in a 2-1 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays) in the Class A Midwest League.

DeCecco gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in four innings but came out of the game following a rain delay of 1 hour, 14 minutes. He struck out none.

He is 7-7 with a 4.46 ERA in 18 starts. In 101 innings, he has given up 102 hits, walked 35 and struck out 61.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) is 4-6 with a 4.65 ERA in 18 starts for the Lynchburg HillCats (Braves) in the Class A Advanced Carolina League.

In 98 2/3 innings, he has given up 103 hits and 45 walks while striking out 64.

Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) did not pitch for the Princeton Rays in a 2-1 loss to the Greeneville Astros in the rookie-level Appalachian League.

Fischer is 0-2 with a 3.29 ERA in eight relief appearances. In 13 2/3 innings, he has allowed six hits and four walks while striking out 10.
