Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) gave up three solo home runs in four innings for the High Desert Mavericks (Mariners) in a 7-5 loss to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Dodgers) in the Advanced Class-A California League on Thursday night.

The left-hander gave up seven runs on nine hits and three walks. He struck out one.

DeCecco is 1-1 with an 8.16 ERA in five appearances, including two starts.

Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional H.S.) did not play for the Iowa Cubs in a 9-0 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Rockies) in the triple-A Pacific Coast League.

Szczur, an outfielder, has not played since going 3-for-4 Monday. He is hitting .246 with one home run, eight RBIs and 11 runs.

Darren Ford (Vineland) is on the disabled list for the Fresno Grizzlies (Giants) in the Pacific Coast League.

Ford, an outfielder, is hitting .350 (7-for-20) this year.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit), a pitcher for the Lynchburg Hillcats (Braves) in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League, started the season on the disabled list with an unspecified injury.

Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) is a pitcher with the Princeton (W.Va.) Rays, who start their rookie-level Appalachian League season June 19.

Independent leagues

Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) is an outfielder with the Schaumburg (Ill.) Boomers, who start their Frontier League season May 16.

Charlie Law (Mainland Regional) is a pitcher with the Rockland (N.Y.) Boulders, who start their Can-Am League season May 23.
