Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) gave up one run on five hits and two runs in eight innings to earn the win for the Clinton LumberKings  in a 5-1 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers) in the Class-A Midwest League on Thursday night.

In his longest outing of the season, the 22-year-old left-hander threw 61 of his 91 pitches for strikes. He struck out four and got 11 groundouts and two strikeouts.

DeCecco is 8-7 with a 4.21 ERA in 20 starts. In 109 innings, he has given up 107 hits, walked 37 and struck out 65.

OF Darren Ford (Vineland) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Indianapolis Indians’ (Pirates) in a 5-4 loss to Charlotte  in the second game of a doubleheader in the triple-A International League.

Ford, who led off as the designated hitter, also stole a base. He did not play in the first game, in which Indianapolis got no hits and lost 1-0.

Ford is hitting .222 with 22 runs scored, 13 RBIs and 20 stolen bases in 57 games.

Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 1-for-5 with a walk and a run scored for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 10-5 win over Huntsville in the double-A Southern League.

Szczur is hitting .280 with 54 runs scored, 37 RBIs and 20 steals in 95 games. His on-base percentage is .350.

RHP A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) is 4-7 with a 4.69 ERA in 19 starts for the Lynchburg HillCats (Braves) in the Class A Advanced Carolina League.

In 101 2/3 innings, he has given up 108 hits, struck out 67 and walked 49.

LHP Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) is 0-3 with a 5.52 ERA in nine relief appearances for the Princeton Rays in the rookie-level Appalachian League.

In 14 2/3 innings, he has given up 11 hits, struck out 11 and walked four.
