Gannon University redshirt senior Nate Ross will compete for a national championship this weekend.

The 2012 Absegami High School graduate will compete at 165 pounds at the NCAA Division II Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday.

He will face Qiante Wagner of McKendree in the opening round at noon Friday.

Ross qualified for the tournament when he won the 165 championship at the Super Regional One on Feb. 23-24 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

He defeated top-seeded Michael Raccioppi of East Stroudsburg with a 12-8 decision in the semifinals and second-seeded Davin Austin of Pitt-Johnstown with a 6-4 decision in the final.

Raccioppi and Austin were ranked among the top 10 nationally.

Ross is 16-8 this season.
