Castellini stars for Rutgers-Camden

Gabrielle Castellini had a big week for the Rutgers University-Camden softball team in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The senior outfielder is a 2014 Wildwood Catholic High School graduate from Millville.

In the first of three games March 13, she doubled, scored twice and drove in two runs in a 9-5 win over Keystone.

In the second game, an 8-1 win over Bay Path, she doubled twice, scored once and had three RBIs. She went 2 for 4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs in a 7-5 win over Shaw in the third game.

Castellini doubled and drove in a run in a 2-1 loss to Gettysburg in the first of two games Wednesday. In the second game, a 9-8 win over Lycoming, she went 2 for 4 with a run. She went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple, three runs and two RBIs in a 12-5 win over Clarks Summit on Thursday.

In 11 games for the 7-4 Scarlet Raptors, Castellini is batting .400 (16 for 40) with five doubles, three triples, 13 runs and 12 RBIs.

Victoria Szrom (Egg Harbor Township) went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI in Florida Institute of Technology’s 4-3 win over Ursuline on March 12.

She went 2 for 2 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs in a 12-2 win over Barry on Friday. She went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored in a 3-0 win over Barry on Saturday.

Carly Testa (St. Joseph) singled and stole home in Caldwell’s 5-1 loss to Florida Tech on Wednesday.

Naomi Stas (Pinelands Regional) pitched 51/3 innings for the win in Jefferson’s 4-2 victory over Minnesota-Crookston on March 13. She allowed two runs on eight hits and three walks. She struck out three. Stas pitched six innings in a 2-0 loss to Kutztown on Wednesday.

Stas allowed both runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks. She doubled in a 3-2 loss to Bridgeport in the first of two games Thursday. She pitched six innings in a 3-0 loss to St. Michael’s in the second game Thursday.

Stas allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits. She walked three and struck out two.

Becca Roesch (Absegami) went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs in Slippery Rock’s 7-4 loss to Charleston on March 12. She went 2 for 3 with a double, a run and four RBIs in a 9-0 win over Jefferson on Wednesday.

Arianna Segich (Ocean City) tripled and scored twice in Penn State Brandywine’s 8-0 win over Maine-Presque Isle in the first of a doubleheader March 12. In the second game, a 14-12 loss, she went 2 for 4 with a triple, two runs and four RBIs. She scored twice in a 10-2 win over the College of St. Joseph in the first of a doubleheader Friday. In the second game, a 9-0 win, she went 2 for 2 with two runs scored.

KadyMae Makos (Millville) singled, scored and drove in two runs in Rowan’s 9-1 win over Plattsburgh on Friday.

Morgan Walizer (Lacey Township) pitched three shutout innings to get the win in Rutgers-Newark’s five-inning no-hitter to beat Keene State 8-0 on March 12.

In a 12-0 win over Lasell in the first of two games March 13, Walizer went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI. Sam Morton (Mainland) went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Maranda Jo Shinn (Hammonton) pitched two shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk with one strikeout.

In the second game, a 19-2 win over Minnesota Morris, Morton doubled, scored twice and drove in three runs. Walizer singled and scored. Walizer went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI in a 6-4 win over Elmhurst on Friday.

MyKayla Bird (Cedar Creek) doubled and drove in two runs in Wesley’s 9-1 win over Franciscan on Thursday.

Women’s gymnastics

Erin Howell (EHT) scored 9.575 points on the bars for Brown in a quad meet Saturday against Bridgeport, Yale and Centenary. The Bears took third with 192.600 points.

Men’s, women’s golf

David Hicks (Middle Township) shot a three-day score of 232 (22 over par) to finish tied for 75th for William & Mary at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate held March 4-6 in Aiken, Georgia.

Michael Lange (Atlantic City) tied for fifth for Rosemont at the Mary Washington Eagle Invitational held Friday and Saturday in Stafford, Virginia. She shot a 74 and 76 to finish 8 over.

Julia Kline (Atlantic City) shot a two-day total of 170 for Stevenson to finish 27th at the Pfeiffer Invitational held March 5 and 6 in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
