Local college baseball: Atlantic Cape wins two

The Atlantic Cape Community College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Quinsigamond Community College (Mass.) on Sunday at Jerome Avenue Field in Margate.

Atlantic Cape (2-1) won 5-4 and 6-0.

In the first game, Atlantic Cape’s Orlando Reyes singled in the winning run with the bases loaded in bottom of the seventh inning.

Jim Norris (Wildwood Catholic) went 3-for-4 for the Buccaneers, and Reyes, Jesus Vega and Daniel Nicolaisen each had two hits. Pitcher Brett McCulley (Egg Harbor Township) got the win in relief.

Winning pitcher Kurt Hamby (Holy Spirit) went seven innings in the second game, allowed six hits, walked one and struck out two.

Hamby and Brian Khoury (Mainland) each had two hits, while Ben DelCorio (Cape May Tech) was 1-for-1 with two runs and a walk. Vega and Nicolaisen each doubled.
