Atlantic Cape Community College defeated Cumberland County College, the No. 10 women’s basketball team in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III, 70-51 on Tuesday.
Darice Collier (Absegami) led the Buccaneers with 19 points and five steals. Arlene Craig (Absegami) added 17 points and four steals. Kerri Player (Cape May Tech) scored 16 points and had 15 rebounds, while Benny Santiago (Oakcrest) scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Atlantic Cape (13-12).
Alicia Cox (Vineland) led Cumberland County with 14 points.
Atlantic Cape men’s basketball: Armin Cane (Pleas-antville) had 16 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in a 85-67 victory over Cumberland County College. Cesar Sandoval (Absegami) added 15 points for the Bucs, while Reginald Jones (Egg Harbor Township) provided 13 rebounds, 11 blocks and five steals. Muji McBride (Atlantic City) had nine points and 11 rebounds and Julian Martin, and Nate Brown (Atlantic City) contributed six assists apiece.
Ocean County men’s basketball: Lawrence Brodie led four players in double figures with 19 as the Vikings nipped visiting Gloucester County College 71-70. Brent Cox registered a double-double with 10 points and assists, apiece. Elton Morris led Ocean (7-16, 5-11) with 12 rebounds.
Isiah Barber and Nick Allen contributed with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
