Rameel Johnson scored 17 points, had five rebounds, three steals and two assists as Richard Stockton College beat The College of New Jersey 81-53 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday. 

Darnell McCargo added 14 and Mike Perry scored 11 for the Ospreys, who remain unbeaten.

Stockton took command early, shooting 55 percent from the floor and netting 20 points off turnovers in the opening half.

Alex Fox led the Lions with 16 points.

Che’Na Thompson netted a game-high 26 points and made 11 rebounds for Stockton, which led the majority of the second half.

Alex Ryan added 12 points for the Ospreys.

Stockton softball

The Ospreys were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a 2011-12 NFCA All-Academic Team in Division III.

Stockton tied for 51st in the nation with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.29. The Ospreys were the highest-ranked New Jersey Athletic Conference squad.

Stockton made a large jump in the NFCA academic rankings this year after finishing tied for 79th with a 3.23 team GPA in 2010-11.

A group of eight players qualified for the NJAC All-Academic Team with a GPA of 3.20 or higher and at least sophomore status. The eight Ospreys were Nicole Chabak, Katelyn Derewecki, Bianca DiDolce, Jamie Gasko, Jenna Kinter, Grace Long (Egg Harbor Township), Michelle Pietrocola and Ally Roma.
