Bridget Ruskey opened her collegiate career with a big performance for NCAA Division I La Salle University.

Ruskey, a Middle Township High School graduate, had three goals, an assist, a caused turnover and a draw control for the Explorers in an 8-6 loss to Fresno State on Friday.

Ruskey is a two-time Press of Atlantic City Athlete of the Year, three-time girls lacrosse Player of the Year, and holds the New Jersey state record for career goals scored.

Ashley Hunt (Lower Cape May) had two goals, two assists and a draw control in Lourdes’ 22-10 win over Cleary on Feb. 4.


L.T. Struble (Hammonton) doubled in Felician’s 6-3 loss to Embry-Riddle on Friday. He went 2 for 4 with a triple, four RBIs and a run scored in a 14-13 loss to Embry-Riddle on Saturday.

Roberto Rivera (Millville) went 3 for 5 with three runs and a stolen base in UNC Pembroke’s 10-4 win over Shepherd on Feb. 2. He doubled, scored and drove in a run in a 16-6 win over Shepherd on Feb. 3. He went 2 for 2 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs in a 7-6 win over Indiana (Pennsylvania) on Friday. He singled and scored four runs in a 16-12 win over Indiana on Saturday.

Troy Dixon (EHT) was honored by St. John’s University on Thursday at the 12th annual Bullpen Winter Banquet and received the Peter P. Smith Award as the MVP of last season. He batted .394 during his senior season. He now plays for the Everett AquaSox in the Seattle Mariners farm system. Sean Mooney (Ocean City) won the Howie Gershberg Award as the university’s top pitcher. The right-hander’s sophomore season begins Friday.

Men’s lacrosse

In Delaware’s 16-12 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday, Charlie Kitchen (St. Augustine) had two goals, two assists and two caused turnovers. Joe Eisele (St. Augustine) had two goals and an assist, and Dean DiSimone (St. Augustine) had a goal, an assist, a ground ball and two caused turnovers.

Will Fox (St. Augustine) went 14 for 21 in faceoffs and scooped seven ground balls in Fairfield’s 12-5 loss to Vermont on Saturday.

Nick DeCaprio (St. Augustine) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers in Michigan’s 15-5 win over Cleveland State on Saturday.

Aaron Denesevich (St. Augustine) scored in Wagner’s 11-5 win over Manhattan on Saturday.

Ethan Irizarry (Mainland) scored twice in Coker’s 12-6 loss to North Greenville on Saturday.

Men’s basketball

Sa’eed Nelson (St. Augustine Prep) scored 31 points in American’s 72-69 loss to Loyola last Wednesday. He had 14 points, seven assists and five rebounds in an 80-78 loss to Lehigh on Saturday.

Jordan Robertson (Wildwood Catholic) scored 20 and grabbed five rebounds in Colgate’s 74-60 win over Boston last Wednesday.

Justyn Mutts (St. Augustine) had six points and six rebounds in High Point’s 61-60 win over Radford last Wednesday. He had nine points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in an 82-70 loss to Winthrop on Saturday.

Tyler Jones (Holy Spirit) scored six and added six rebounds in Maryland Eastern Shore’s 62-61 win over Florida A&M on Feb. 5. He scored 21 and grabbed five rebounds in an 87-67 loss to Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.

Junior Saintel (Holy Spirit) had four points and four rebounds in Stony Brook’s 81-68 win over UMass Lowell on Thursday. He had two points, five blocks, three rebounds and three steals in a 64-61 win over Maine on Sunday.

Christian Mortellite (Hammonton) scored 18 and grabbed seven rebounds in Bloomsburg’s 75-58 win over Cheyney on Wednesday. He scored 21 in an 89-78 win over Millersville on Saturday. Mortellite is 27 away from scoring his 2,00th career point. The Huskies next play Wednesday at Mansfield.

Isiah Graves (Atlantic City) scored seven and added four assists, four steals and two rebounds in Goldey-Beacom’s 76-67 win over Holy Family last Wednesday. He had 13 points, three assists and two rebounds in a 93-61 win over Concordia on Saturday.

Austin Kennedy (St. Augustine) scored 14 and had four assists and two rebounds in Long Island Post’s 89-83 win over Molloy last Wednesday. He scored five in a 69-66 loss to Queens on Saturday.

Tanner Kerr (Middle Township) grabbed five rebounds and added two points in the University of the Sciences’ 59-44 loss to Jefferson last Wednesday.

In Cabrini’s 92-72 win over Keystone last Wednesday, Trey Smith (Wildwood Catholic) had four points and four assists and brother D.J. Smith (Wildwood Catholic) scored six. In an 88-83 win over Rosemont on Saturday, Trey Smith had 10 points, five assists, two rebounds and two steals. D.J. Smith added six points and three rebounds.

Nate Aldrich (St. Augustine) scored 10 and added six rebounds in Drew’s 77-65 loss to Scranton on Thursday. He had 13 points and 14 rebounds, and his brother Brendan Aldrich (St. Augustine) scored five in a 90-72 loss to Susquehanna on Saturday.

Ethan Dubois (Southern) had two points, two assists and three rebounds in Elizabethtown’s 75-48 loss to Juniata on Thursday. He scored nine and added five assists and three rebounds in a 92-75 win over Goucher on Saturday.

Eric Ray (Southern) had five points and five rebounds in FDU-Florham’s 88-77 loss to Eastern last Wednesday. He had five rebounds, two points and two assists in a 70-63 win over Delaware Valley on Saturday.

Matt Sommers (Holy Spirit) scored six and added four rebounds in Gwynedd Mercy’s 89-69 win over Clarks Summit on Thursday. He had five points and four rebounds in a 65-57 loss to Marywood on Saturday.

Charlie Riccardi (St. Joseph) scored 14 and added four rebounds in Rutgers-Camden’s 75-55 loss to Ramapo on Thursday. He scored 15 in a 68-60 loss to William Paterson on Saturday.

George Cook (Wildwood Catholic) had six assists, four rebounds and three points in Wesley’s 68-66 win over Mary Washington on Saturday.

Women’s indoor track

Casey Sturts (Buena Regional) was fourth in the pole vault (3.6 meters) for Monmouth at the Fastrack National Invitational in Staten Island, New York, on Friday.

Devon Grisbaum (Ocean City) finished 57th in the 3,000, running a season-best 9:56.03 for Vanderbilt at the Music City Challenge in Nashville on Saturday.

Brianna Angellella (Southern) ran on the third-place distance medley relay team (12:23.17) for Rowan at the Fastrack National Invitational on Saturday. Carrie Wunder (was 30th in the weight throw (12.39 meters). On Sunday, Angellella was second in the high jump (1.58) and fourth in the 400 (1:02.28).

Men’s indoor track

Eric Barnes (Egg Harbor Township) was 85th out of 230 runners in the 800 (1:56.20) for Rutgers at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday.

Martin Maldonado (EHT) was second in the mile (4:36.46) for Rowan at the St. Joseph’s Invitational in South Huntington, New York, on Sunday. Darawan Khonvay (Millville) was third in the pole vault (3.90).

Brandon Truong (EHT) had a personal best 14.10 meters in the weight throw for Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at the Empire 8 Championships in Boston.

Ian Steele (Ocean City) was 36th in the 400 (55.57) for Ursinus at the NYU Invitational on Friday.
