Freshman defensive lineman Austin Johnson, a St. Augustine Prep graduate, says he’s staying at Penn State.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder posted the following statement on his Facebook page late Tuesday night:

“Staying at the school I’ve loved since day one. Penn state forever!! WeAre”

It’s the first public statement that Johnson had made since the NCAA handed down severe penalties to the Penn State University football program in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.

Oakcrest High School rising senior Brandon Bell verbally committed to Penn State last month. Oakcrest coach Chuck Smith said via email Monday that Bell and his family are discussing his future.

Southern Regional High School graduate Glenn Carson also is planning on staying with the Nittany Lions, according to his father in an interview with The Press on Monday.
