The Stockton University men's basketball team came up short in a last minute attempt to beat The College of New Jersey losing 95-84 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game Wednesday night.
Kyle Philo made two free throws and Zavon Johnson made a three pointer to bring the Stockton (4-3, 0-2 NJAC) from 79 to 84 in the last 36 seconds of the game. But the attempt to defeat TCNJ (4-1, 2-0 NJAC) was unsuccessful with the Lions scoring 18 points off of turnovers to the Ospreys' eight.
Johnson played for 33 minutes to score the most points of the game with 24 and made all three of his free throw attempts. The Opsreys' Kashaun Barnes scored 19 points, made five rebounds and had a .385 field goal percentage after playing for 23 minutes.
The Lions' Niall Carpenter and Eric Murdock Jr. both led their team with 23 points. Murdock made six of his seven free throw attempts and made four rebounds. Randy Walko also made seven rebounds for TCNJ.
The Ospreys will take on Ramapo College in an NJAC matchup Saturday at 3 p.m. in Galloway.
