Staff Writer David Weinberg previews the Philadelphia Eagles' areas of need leading up to the NFL draft, which starts Thursday.

Who's there now: Connor Barwin (starter), DeMeco Ryans (starter), Mychal Kendricks (starter), Emmanuel Acho, Jamar Chaney, Brandon Graham, Casey Matthews, Chris McCoy, Jason Phillips

Why it's a problem: The Eagles will need extra linebackers to both rush the quarterback and drop into coverage if the team switches to a 3-4 base defense as expected. Barwin should provide a big boost on the outside. Ryans could use some help on the inside.

The best:

1. Dion Jordan, Oregon: 6-foot-6, 243-pound blend of power, speed and athleticism played for Eagles coach Chip Kelly at Oregon, but he may be drafted in the top three.

2. Ezekiel Ansah, Brigham Young: 6-5, 271-pounder projects as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 front, but he is considered a project.

3. Jarvis Jones, Georgia: 6-2, 245-pounder would be a possibility if the Eagles trade down into the middle of the first round.
