Why this is their biggest game of the year

Eagles (3-9) at Tampa Bay (6-6), 1 p.m., Sunday, Raymond James Stadium

The Eagles are just trying to get a win after suffering eight straight losses. Despite those defeats, they are still mathematically alive in the playoff race, though the chances of actually making the postseason are remote. They are now playing for pride and hoping to serve as spoilers against true contenders. Tampa Bay is still very much alive for a wild-card playoff berth.

Q: Why did you fire defensive line coach Jim Washburn?

A: This is a move that I think needed to be done now and so I did it now. That’s about as far into depth I’m going to go.

Q: Why did you decide to make Nick Foles the starting quarterback for the rest of the season?

A: Where we sit in this position of the season, I think it’s the right thing to do.

Q: Was going with Foles your decision?

A: Yes. Like I’ve told you many times, the one great thing about the Philadelphia Eagles organization is that they’ve allowed me to make the decisions.
