Readers react via email Saturday night to the Philadelphia Eagles’ 15-10 playoff win against the Atlanta Falcons.
As a final tribute to one of the all-time great sports broadcasters, I can only say “Whoa Nellie, our Eagles are going to the NFC championship.”
RIP Keith Jackson
Offense wins games. Defense win championships.
Foles did what he had to win.

Fourth-down stop at the 2-yard line
Total team victory. Foles fooled us beautifully, turning skeptics (mea culpa) into believers.
Bring on the fair-weather Vikings or Saints to our frigid confines.
We can taste it now.
Last place to first place in one year. Losing our MVP contender QB. Being the No. 11 seed yet being considered the underdog in a divisional playoff home game and then winning!
It’s been a surreal season, and however it turns out, I thank the Eagles for a great year and a future that looks very bright!

Everyone — from the array of alleged football know-it-alls to the money-hungry Las Vegas oddsmakers — eliminated the Eagles ahead of the game.
Suddenly, the top dogs were underdogs, and the number of commentators and columnists counting them out grew too large to count.
The question in the national conversation shifted from “how can the Eagles win?” to “how can the Falcons lose?”
The fact is, football results are not foregone conclusions. These are the same Falcons who forfeited a 25-point lead in last season’s Super Bowl. They squandered an opportunity 11 months ago and did so again today, for they are the FAILcons and “Matty Ice” melts under the spotlight.
Everyone was too quick to write the Eagles’ obituary. I’m thankful this tenacious team prevented it from being published for another week.
A nail-biting game, but we play next week.
Rocky start for Foles.
Can’t wait to see who we play next week.
Good job, everyone.
Despite two disastrous turnovers in the first half, the Eagles rallied in the second half to an exciting victory!
Foles, who started slow, came back and played a great second half.
Thanks to a superior defense, we advance to the next round!
Devastating. The ghost of Andy Reid still haunts me!
The first half, Nick Foles was horrible, Ajai fumbles, and Doug Pederson was clueless in clock management, Elliott hits the goal post and the “D” comes up big.
The second half was tight hard-nosed Eagles football. I swore, I cursed and made more promises to the Big Guy than I can ever keep. But I am going to keep them all, and I take back every thing bad I said tonight.
The Eagles came out and put the ball on the ground, then a missed extra point that gave the ball to Atlanta inside the the red zone.
It looked like it was not their day. I said they are snakebit. But they came out in the second half and played great defense. The offense did enough to win the game. Nick Foles came through for us.
I hope people will get off of Nick Foles’ back.
The Eagles just hung in there, and it paid off. Can you say NFC championship in Philly.? Go Birds!

Fly like an Eagle!
The D came up big. A couple of mistakes by Ajayi and the punt coverage team cost the Birds a bit, but they overcame it.
Doug Pederson was conservative, but his kicker came through, and the D was big!
The home team beat the dome yeam. Next week, do it again!
Great win scary ending. Foles started playing more confident in the second half after a sloppy start.
Atlanta got all their points off Eagles turnovers.
The question now is, can this team win just two more games? Hope it stays cold when we host a dome team next week.

So much for Matty Ice. Nick Foles is the man!
One man does not make a team. As good as Wentz was this year, this is a team game. The defense played great, and Doug Pederson clled a great game for his quarterback.
Anything is possible now one more win and they play for the Super Bowl.
A defensive stand for the ages!
Wow, what a display of defense in the second half.
Way to go, Nick Foles and Coach Pederson. A huge team victory. I know the fans will bring it next week as we host the NFC championship game!
Hey, Las Vegas, please make the Birds underdogs again.
OMG, OMG, OMG!
I never expected a game like that! My blood pressure is off the charts!
I will take the win anyway!
One game at a time, let’s keep our heads in the game and play just like you did today.
Maybe the chumps in Vegas should pick the visiting team to win again.
Seems like it certainly brings out the best in the Eagles!
I had a queasy feeling in my stomach on that fourth-down play, but it turned into a fabulous victory for our species of bird!
Everyone knows an eagle will beat a falcon in aerial combat!

How can any words describe the emotions that were felt while watching this game?
A classic game that will be remembered for a long time!
Thank you, Eagles!
Nick Foles is proven to be a true leader. That’s the story!
The defense came up big when it really counted, But I think the win goes to the quarterback. He was outstanding throughout.
There was unbelievable pressure and expectations on him, and he was fantastic.
Tonight’s game reminded me of Van Brocklin in the 1960 game. He wasn’t the outstanding player, but without his leadership throughout, they don’t win.
The final minutes were the same — the defense on the field to win or lose it. They win it, but the QB took them there.
Way to go, St. Nick.
You’ve got a big sack to carry next week, and we all know you are capable to get us there.
