The female fishing crew on the Gym Dandy out of Brigantine did it again Tuesday. This time it was 90-year-old Doris DeRitis who took the honors with a flounder that weighed 3.75-pounds at Riptide Bait and Tackle in Brigantine.
On May 18, 71-year-old Nancy Tregnan caught a 10-3 flounder and a few days later 59-year-old Gail DeRitis caught a 6-pounder on the Gym Dandy.
Gail said Wednesday that her mom fishes pretty regularly with them when she visits from Philadelphia for a week once a month. They always give Broad Creek behind Brigantine a try, and that's where they were again.
It certainly looked and felt like summer out on the water. The bays - inside Great Egg Inlet at least - seemed to be filled with all kinds of craft from fishing boats to pontoon partyboats to jet skis and kayaks. It almost looked like the days when getting a day on the water was a lot less expensive.
