Weakfish seem to be making a decent comeback in the area after what seems like years on the missing list.
Two local women got nice weakfish recently, and they were both entered into The Press Fishing Contest.
Kelly Gregory of Somers Point was fishing in Great Egg Harbor River on Monday when she hooked one that weighed 7 pounds at Dolfin Dock in Somers Point. Kim Lynch of Millville got a 3.36-pound weakfish on June 5 in the back bays of Avalon. It was certified for the contest at Moran's Dockside in Avalon.
There have been a lot more weakfish entered into The Press Fishing Contest this year - seven already - than in recent years.
