The Press Fishing Contest just passed the halfway point of the season. The Youth Division just picked up three nice entries, which helped push the number of total entries to 109.
Hunter Reese of Mays Landing, 10, from Estell Manor, picked off a 6-pound, 3-ounce flounder on July 15 while fishing Little Egg Reef with dad Joe. It was certified for the contest at Captain Howard's Bait and Tackle in Egg Harbor City.
Matthew Gagliardi of Cape May Court House got a 4.54-pound sea bass on July 17. Grassy Sound Marina in North Wildwood handled the weigh-in.
Northfield's Kevin Foreman caught a 2.61-pound catfish on July 15 and entered it in the Youth Division at Dolfin Dock in Somers Point.
And just to show that the Senior Division is not neglected, Doug Johnson of Levittown, Pa., fished Great Egg Harbor Reef and hauled in 5.8- and 3.71-pound flounder. They were certified at Dolfin Dock in Somers Point.
