The second and final day of the 23rd annual Daniel J. Murphy Jr. Memorial Regatta had three winners who also won their classes on Saturday at the event on Lake Lenape in Mays Landing.

The powerboat regatta again had heats and finals on the lake in five classes Sunday, and had 33 racing teams. All the laps were four laps around a mile oval on the lake.

Tom Petterson of Blairs-town Township in Warren County won the Jersey Speed Skiffs class for the second straight day. Keith McMullen of Annapolis, Md., won both days in the 1-litre hydroplane class, and Bobby Kennedy of Bear, Del., swept the 2.5-litre hydroplane class.

Egg Harbor Township’s Tabatha Carr finished third in the 1.5-litre hydroplane class. Galloway Township’s Warren Brown placed third in the Jersey Speed Skiffs class for the weekend in the combined results of the two days.

Matt Hennings of Cin-naminson was the winner of the Daniel J. Murphy Jr. Memorial Trophy, which is awarded annually to the racing team that best displays performance, sportsmanship, appearance and dedication to the sport of powerboat racing. Hennings won the 1.5-litre class on Saturday.

The award was presented by Mary Ann Murphy, the widow of Dan Murphy, who was a hydroplane racer in the 1940s and 1950s. The Murphys formerly lived in Longport and Atlantic City.
