The Philadelphia Flyers "Trial on the Isle" begins today at 9 a.m. with team-building activities starting at the 96th Street beach in Stone Harbor and continuing to 123rd Street.

The "Trial on the Isle" is part of a five-day minicamp for Flyers prospects. All proceeds from the day benefit Flyers Charities, a division of the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation and an additional donation to American Legion Post No. 331.

To begin the day, the prospects will go through a series of conditioning drills, including a swim in the ocean followed by a run. The prospects then will take part in a series of team-building activities led by members of the military.

The day continues at noon with a hockey clinic and autograph session in the Stone Harbor Elementary School parking lot until 3 p.m. A second clinic will be held at 3 p.m. at the new 80th Street blacktop.

Then Flyers prospects will play in a charity softball game at 4 p.m. against the Stone Harbor Stars at the baseball field. The event includes Flyers public address announcer Lou Nolan and broadcaster Steve Coates, exclusive raffles and auction items for charity.

A barbecue dinner with the prospects at the Yacht Club will conclude the night at 5:30 p.m, which features a screening of the HBO special "Broad Street Bullies."

Reservations are recommended. The cost is $35 for adults and $25 for children pre-purchase and $45 adult, $35 children at the door. Tickets are available at the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Stone Harbor Yacht Club and Stone Harbor Municipal Building.
