The top-seeded Absegami High School boys soccer team will try to win the first sectional title in school history today when it hosts second-seeded Washington Township in the South Jersey Group IV final at Absegami High School at 2 p.m.

The Braves (19-2-1), No. 6 in The Press Elite 11, lost in the South Jersey Group III final in 1981 — about a dozen years before this team’s seniors were born.

Sean Milligan has scored four of the team’s five goals in three postseason wins and leads the team with 22 this season.

Senior captain Payne Vazquez leads a talented defense. Goalkeeper Matt McCormick has a school single-season record 12 shutouts this season.

Washington Township (18-3-2) is No. 3 in the Elite 11. The Minutemen beat Toms River North in a penalty kick shootout in the semifinals. Eric Jordan scored twice in the game.
