Fourth-quarter touchdown helps Pinelands Regional beat Holmdel

Pinelands Regional High School running back Mike Michaelson ran four yards up the middle for the winning touchdown early in the fourth quarter Saturday and the Wildcats beat visiting Holmdel 19-14 in a Shore Conference football game.

Pinelands fullback Bobb Schwartzenberger opened the scoring with a 62-yard run in the fourth period, but Holmdel quarterback Mike Cantelli threw a touchdown pass and ran for another to give his team a 14-7 lead at halftime. Wildcats running back Matt McClain scored a 45-yard TD in the third quarter, but Holmdel kept a 14-13 lead when the extra point kick was missed.

Pinelands defensive back Jeremy Hartman intercepted a Holmdel pass in the end zone late in the second quarter.
