Atlantic City High School senior Colleen Callahan qualified first in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 breaststroke Saturday in the preliminary heats of the state Individual Swimming Champion-ships at Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Deptford Township.

Callahan was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 2.39 seconds, and Vineland’s Rachel Bernhardt was second in 1:02.94. Callahan qualified first in the 200 IM in 2:03.03.

Today is the final day of the event, commonly called the Meet of Champions. The girls meet is at 10 a.m. and the boys meet is at 2 p.m. The leading high school swimmers in New Jersey qualified for the event during the season.

The swimmers with the top eight times in each event return today for the championship finals. The ninth-to-16th fastest swimmers in each of Saturday’s races will be in the consolation finals. Relays have a second consolation final for the teams which placed 17th-to-24th on Saturday.

The Atlantic City girls 200 medley relay team was third in 1:48.85. Ocean City was fourth in the event in 1:49.43, and Vineland was seventh in 1:50.59.

Atlantic City freshman Amber Glenn placed third in the 500 freestyle in 4:56.73. Ocean City’s Noel Styer was fourth in the 50 freestyle in 24.06. The Ocean City 200 freestyle relay team qualified fourth in 1:39.58.

Egg Harbor Township’s Anthony Czar was fifth in the boys 500 freestyle in 4:42,64. St. Augustine placed fifth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:28.80 and Vineland was sixth in 1:28.87. Vineland’s Johnny Malatesta qualified seventh in the 100 backstroke in 52.07. Vineland was seventh in the 200 medley relay in 1:37.98 and the Prep was eighth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:17.56.

Glenn was 14th in the 200 freestyle and Absegami’s Emily Barnard was 16th. Melissa Toy was 10th in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. A.C.’s Ayana Cox was 16th in the 50 freestyle. The A.C. 200 freestyle relay team was ninth and Mainland placed 13th. O.C. was 13th in the 400 freestyle relay.

Oakcrest was 12th in the boys 200 medley relay. St. Augustine’s Pat Flynn was 10th in the boys 200 freestyle, and Czar was 14th. Malatesta placed 11th in the 200 IM, and Parks was 14th in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Prep’s John Gregory was 12th in the 500 freestyle.

EHT was 12th in the boys 200 freestyle relay and Oakcrest was 15th. Flynn qualified 12th in the 100 backstroke, and Thien Le of Atlantic City was 15th. EHT was 11th in the 400 freestyle relay.
