Atlantic Christian School’s Mikai Browne scored his 1,000th career point as the team opened the new year with a 42-35 victory over Cape Christian in a non-conference boys basketball game.

The junior guard entered the game needing just 23 points to reach the milestone, which he accomplished early in the third quarter after stealing the ball and sinking a layup.

Browne now has 1,005 career points.

Browne led Atlantic Christian with 28 points, including sinking three 3-point shots. He also had seven rebounds and four steals.

Atlantic Christian improved to 5-6.

Ben Noble scored seven points while Elijah Chapman added three. Both made a 3-point basket. Teammate Hunter Smith scored four points.

Jacob Valeus scored 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the host Greyhounds. Teammate Sahmir Jones scored 15 points and eight assists, while Elijah Jones added 16 points and Divine Anderson had 13 points and four steals.
