Swimmer of the Year

Colleen Callahan

Atlantic City, So.

Back-to-back Swimmer of the Year after repeating as the state 200 IM and 100 breaststroke champion in record setting times. Also a repeat champion in the two events at the CAL Individual Championships and the SJISA Coaches' Invitational. Broke a record in the 100 breaststroke at the CAL Meet that was set in 2002 by Vineland's Megan Carlin. Helped the Vikings to a 9-4 record before falling to Vineland in the semifinals of the sectional playoffs.

Lauren Carastro

Vineland, Sr.

The three-time first teamer finished seventh in the 200 IM and 13th in the 100 freestyle at the MOC. Anchored the Fighting Clan's 200 freestyle relay which swept each individual competition of the season, including winning the MOC in a school record 1:37.32. Played an instrumental role in Vineland's trip to the State Public A championship before falling to Westfield. Will swim at West Chester University.

Allison Humphries

Vineland, Sr.

Swam the third leg of the state champion 200 freestyle relay all season. Was runner up in the 100 butterfly at the Hackney Invitational and third at the CAL meet. Swimming for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania next year.

Rachel Bernhardt

Vineland, So.

Led off Vineland's 200 freestyle relay all season. Was fifth at the MOC in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.33). Second in 200 freestyle at the Hackney Invitational and runner up in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke at the CAL Meet.

Annemarie Ruberti

Vineland, Jr.

Swam the second leg of the 200 freestyle relay. Won the 200 freestyle at the CAL Meet in 2:10.36 (meters) and was second at Hackneys in the 200 and 400 freestyle.

Erin Curry

Mainland Regional, Sr.

Repeat Press First team All-Star that led Mainland to the CAL American Conference title and a second place finish in Division A at the SJISA Coaches Meet. Was fifth at the MOC in the 200 IM (2:08.99), won the 400 freestyle at CAL Meet (4:32.20) and the 200 IM at the Hackneys (2:26.97). Anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay at the CAL, which also finished ninth at the MOC. Committed to swim for Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Chelsea Martin

Mainland Regional, Sr.

Returned from a two year hiatus from high school swimming to help Mainland's success. Finished seventh at MOC in the 100 backstroke (59.69), while touching first in the event at the CAL Meet (1:05.74), the SJISA Coaches Invitational (59.54) and the Hackneys (1:07.45). Also won the 100 freestyle at the Coaches Meet. Committed to swim at Old Dominion University.

Rachel Wuko

Wildwood Catholic, Jr.

Makes Press First team for the third-straight year. Was sixth in the 50 freestyle (24.37) and 100 freestyle (52.89) at the MOC, sweeping those events at the CAL Meet for the second straight season (27.45, 59.44). Won second straight 50 free at the Hackneys and also touched first in the 50 free and 100 backstroke at the Coaches Meet.

Shannon Howarth

Egg Harbor Township, Jr.

Was eighth at the MOC in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.60) and 14th in the 200 IM. Won the 100 breaststroke at Hackneys and touched third at CALs.

Jenna Santora

Mainland Regional, Fr.

Was undefeated in diving throughout the dual meets and went on to win the CAL Individual Meet (211.75). She finished fifth in the individual state meet (358.60). Finished second in the six-dive meet at GCIT and fifth out of 13 divers in the Jim Roach Girls 11-Dive meet.

Alaura Walz

Oakcrest, Jr.

Was first in the 100 butterfly (1:06.38) and second in 200 freestyle at the CAL Meet. Doubled up at the Hackneys winning the 200 freestyle (2:12.47) and the 100 butterfly (1:08.65) to win an individual title at the high school level for the first time.

Melissa Toy

Atlantic City, So.

Touched first in the 100 freestyle at the Hackneys (1:01.39) to win an individual race at the event for the first time. Helped the Vikings to a victory in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays at the Coaches Meet for Division A. Finished 14th in the 100 freestyle at the MOC. Makes first team for the second straight year.

Melanie Wilezol

Ocean City, So.

Broke her own school record in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:43.51 as the Red Raiders beat Wildwood Catholic to clinch the CAL National Conference title. She won the 200 IM and the 100 beaststroke as Ocean City knocked off four-time CAL National champ Holy Spirit 112-73.
