Brigantine’s Ally Donahue and partner Maddie Widmeier won the 2012 U.S. Sailing Junior Women’s Doublehanded Championship on Friday at Lake Minnetonka in Deephaven, Minn.

Donahue, a rising senior at Holy Spirit High School, and Widmeier, a summer resident of the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township, were in first place after two days of competition heading into Friday’s final day.

However, a lack of wind prevented the sailors from competing and the regatta was concluded with six races completed. It’s the first victory for the duo.

Donahue and Widmeier finished with 15 points, one point ahead of Carolyn Smith and Bayley Davidson with 16 points.
