Mainland Regional High School junior Alyssa Aldridge continued her outstanding fall cross country season Saturday by winning the Foot Locker Cross Country Northeast Regional.

Aldridge won the race at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York, in 17 minutes, 40.3 seconds.

With the victory, Aldridge qualified for the Foot Locker National Championships, on Dec. 10 at Balboa Park in San Diego. It's the second year in a row that Aldridge has qualified for the national race. She was sixth in the regional last year and 23rd at nationals.

Aldridge won the state cross country Meet of Champions last Saturday in 17:55. Her 40-second margin of victory in that race was the largest since 2000. She was the ninth girl to ever win back-to-back MOC titles. She joins Ocean City’s Brittany Sedberry (2003, 2004) and Southern Regional’s Danielle Tauro (2005, 2006) as the only local girls to win consecutive MOC titles. Sedberry now helps train Aldridge.
