The Cedar Creek High School football team has appeared in three South Jersey finals in five years.

Delsea Regional has appeared in five straight South Jersey finals.

These two perennial contenders meet 7 p.m. Friday at Delsea Regional in a West Jersey Football League interdivision game.

Both teams got off to impressive starts last weekend. Cedar Creek (1-0) beat rival Absegami 29-7 as quarterback Louie Barrios threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score.

Delsea Regional (0-1) lost 39-36 to Timber Creek, ranked No. 2 in The Press Elite 11. Delsea junior running back Aidan Borguet ran for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

Cedar Creek beat Delsea Regional 28-21 last season. Here is a preview of the rest of this weekend’s games:

West Jersey Football League


Middle Township (1-1) at Mainland Regional (0-1)

6 p.m. Friday (98.7 FM)

The winner of this game will get a chance to reset its season. Both teams come off lopsided losses to parochial powers. Mainland lost to St. Joe 40-0. Kobe Roberts carried 17 times for 72 yards. Holy Spirit beat Middle Township 50-0. Middle rushed for 239 yards in a season-opening 32-31 win over Steinert, Mercer County, two weeks ago.

Oakcrest (0-1) at Buena Regional (0-1)

6 p.m. Friday

Buena lost in overtime to Pleasantville 13-7 last Friday. Luke Santiago threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Byron Spellman for the Buena touchdown. Oakcrest lost to Ocean City 26-6 last Friday. Nico Conti threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Naji Hart for the Oakcrest touchdown.

Kingsway Regional (0-1) at Millville (1-0)

6 p.m. Friday

Millville is No. 1 in The Press Elite 11. Clayton Scott rushed 21 times for 170 yards and three touchdowns in the Thunderbolts 47-7 win over Egg Harbor Township. Kingsway opened the season with a 17-13 loss to Williamstown.

Williamstown (1-0) at St. Augustine Prep (1-1)

6 p.m. Friday

St. Augustine is No. 6 in The Press Elite 11 and has won 26 straight against South Jersey opponents. Hermits freshman Patrick Smith has rushed for 170 yards this season. Williamstown opened the season with a 17-13 win over Kingsway Regional. Williamstown quarterback J.C. Collins threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Atlantic City (0-1) at Washington Township (0-1)

7 p.m. Friday

Nazim Derry rushed for 66 yards, threw for 39 yards and caught three passes for 47 yards in Atlantic City’s 30-6 loss to St. Augustine Prep. Washington Township opened with a 22-14 loss to Hammonton.

Hammonton (2-0) at Rancocas Valley Regional (1-0)

7 p.m. Friday

Giancarlo Palmieri returned an interception for a touchdown in Hammonton’s 22-14 win over Washington Township last week. Blue Devils running back Sean Ryker has rushed 22 times for 145 yards. Rancocas Valley features running back Iverson Clement, who has verbally committed to Florida. Clement scored four touchdowns as Rancocas beat Hopewell Valley 47-17 last Friday.

Bridgeton (0-2) at Clearview Regional (0-1)

7 p.m. Friday

The Bulldogs faded late in losses to Hammonton (23-0) and Vineland (27-8). James Smith ran 5 yards for a touchdown to give Bridgeton an 8-6 lead in the third quarter against Vineland. Clearview opened with a 19-6 loss to Eastern.

Lower Cape May Regional (0-1) at Absegami (0-1)

7 p.m. Friday

Lower Cape May opened with a 36-6 loss to Cape Henlopen, Delaware. Josh Coursey returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown in Absegami’s 29-7 loss to Cedar Creek.

Vineland (1-0) at Cherry Hill East (0-1)

11 a.m. Saturday

Vineland is No. 3 in The Elite 11. Fighting Clan quarterback and Rutgers recruit Isaih Pacheco rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-8 win over Bridgeton. Cherry Hill East has lost 19 straight.

Egg Harbor Township (0-1) at Lenape (1-0)

7 p.m. Friday

The Eagles lost to top-ranked Millville 47-7 last week. Lenape is No. 5 in The Press Elite 11. Egg Harbor Township hosts No. 3 ranked Vineland next Saturday. EHT quarterback Saladin Paschall completed 8 of 14 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Millville.

Cumberland Regional (0-1) at Winslow Township (0-1)

7 p.m. Saturday

Cumberland opened with a 30-6 loss to Moorestown. Winslow fell to Pennsauken 19-12.

Haddon Township (0-1) at Wildwood (0-1)

6 p.m. Friday

Wildwood lost its opener to Schalick 56-0. Haddon Township lost to Haddon Heights 33-0.

Shore Conference

Shore Regional (1-0) at Barnegat (1-0)

7 p.m. Friday

Charlie Cotton ran for 109 yards and two touchdowns as Barnegat beat Donovan Catholic 22-14. Gil Goldsmith’s overtime touchdown gave Shore Regional a 12-6 win over Asbury Park.

Pt. Pleasant Borough (1-0) at Lacey Township (1-0)

1 p.m. Saturday

Coleton Klaus completed 9 of 11 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown to lead Lacey to a 34-28 win over Toms River South. Pt. Pleasant is No. 11 in the Elite 11. Quarterback James Fara ran for 178 yards and three touchdowns in Borough’s 42-17 win over Pinelands Regional.

Pinelands Regional (0-1) at Marlboro (0-1)

1 p.m. Saturday

Evan Burton ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns as Pinelands opened the season with a 42-17 loss to Pt. Pleasant Borough.

Manalapan (1-0) at Southern Regional (1-1)

7 p.m. Friday

Southern running back Joe Miele has rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns this season. Manalapan lost to Piscataway 34-13 in last year’s Central Jersey Group V title game.
