Williamstown at St. Augustine football

The St. Augustine Prep football team put up a dominant performance in a 45-7 win over Williamstown in a West Jersey Football League interdivision game Friday.

Patrick Smith led the Hermits’ ground attack with 154 yards rushing on 11 carries and two touchdowns. The Hermits rushed for 240 yards overall.

St. Augustine, No. 6 in The Press Elite 11, held Williamstown to just 53 yards in a dominant first half.

True Robinson and Chris Allen scored on 1-yard runs respectively to give the Hermits a 14-0 lead. Jaylen DeCoteau opened the second quarter with a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown. Smith scored on a 66-yard run and Nate Fondacaro added a 31-yard field goal for a 31-0 halftime lead.

Smith added a 64-yard touchdown run in the third, and Shamere Collins scored from 16 yards out.

The No. 1 Thunderbolts improved to 2-0. Carlton Lawrence caught three touchdown passes, including two in the first quarter from Elijah Nichols from 29 and 46 yards. Scott also caught a 63-yard touchdown from Tristan Harris, who had another touchdown pass to Marcial Ramos. Clayton Scott scored on runs from 41 and 16 yards each in the second quarter.

Mike Costabile and Nazim Derry combined for 217 yards passing and four touchdown passes for the Vikings. Derry had 77 yards receiving, 81 yards passing and 87 yards rushing. He also threw for three touchdowns. His 21-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to Marcus Plummer gave the Vikings a 20-14 lead. Nah’sir Morgan caught touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters.
