The Atlantic County Institute of Technology girls basketball team earned its first win in program history, beating visiting Pleasantville 41-38 in the Cape-Atlantic League on Monday in Mays Landing.

Yasmeen Nelson scored 23 points for the Red Hawks, who are in their first year as a varsity program.

“It was a good win and an excellent basketball game,” said ACIT coach Charlie Blank. “It’s always good to get the first one under your belt. You have to start somewhere, and I’m happy for the kids.”

Nelson, who also had six rebounds, scored 11 points in the fourth quarter as ACIT held on to win. Tekyyah James (six points) and Courtney Hartman each added four rebounds. Mya Alston and Zy’hara Lewis scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Greyhounds.
