Girls basketball roundup: Vineland earns first win of season

Tanasia Russell paced Vineland to its first win of the season with 11 points as the Fighting Clan beat Hammonton 42-36 in a Cape-Atlantic League American Conference girls basketball game Wednesday.

The Fighting Clan owned a four-point lead going into the final quarter and held on for the win.

Iesha Watson and Sara Mazzeo each added eight points for Vineland.

For Hammonton, Paige Mortellite led with 11 points and Lauren Berger scored eight.

Jessica Freeman scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had eight steals for Wildwood.

Serena Seijo added six points and had four steals and six assists for the Warriors.

Yasmine Nelson led ACIT with 12 points.
