The Pinelands Regional High School girls soccer team advanced on penalty kicks against host Ocean City in their South Jersey Group III first-round game on Tuesday. The two teams were tied at 1-1 through regulation and two overtime periods.

In the shootout, it was 3-3 after the first 10 shooters. Pinelands Regional’s Heather Scott made the Wildcats’ next kick and goalie Breanna Wilson made a diving save to stop Ocean City’s shot to clinch the win 4-3.

Pinelands, the No. 10 seed, will play at second-seeded Central Regional in the quarterfinals at a date to be determined. O.C. was the seventh seed.

Ocean City freshman Veronica Garcia scored first with 12 minutes remaining in regulation. Ashley Edgell had the assist.

Alicia Herbert scored the unassisted tying goal for the Wildcats two minutes later.

Katie McCormick scored the lone goal for Cumberland. Goalkeeper Felicite Diorio made 15 stops and Dayna Miller stopped four for the Colts.

Britnni Calleo, Amanda Carolan and Brooke Myers each scored two goals for Central.

Lindsey Thomas led Kingsway with two goals and an assist. Kingsway will play 11th-seeded Highland Regional in the quarterfinals.

Lizzy Thackston scored the game-winner with two minutes, 40 seconds left in overtime. Thankston also scored the first goal for Hammonton to give the Blue Devils the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Elise Pratt and Jen Mosley scored for Timber Creek.

Sierra DeMarco scored the tying goal for Hammonton.

The Blue Devils advance to face either Oakcrest or Moorestown in the semifinals.
