After a year's wait, the St. Augustine Prep boys swimming team gets a rematch with Bergen Catholic at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a state Non-Public A semifinal at Raritan Bay Area YMCA in Perth Amboy.
St. Augustine tied Bergen Catholic 85-85 in the state semifinal last year but lost on the power points tiebreaker. Bergen Catholic lost to Christian Brothers Academy 98-72 in the state final.
This winter, the Prep is 10-1, ranked third in The Press Elite 11 and seeded third in Non-Public A. The Hermits' only loss was 88-82 to Moorestown, the defending state Group B champion. Second-seeded Bergen Catholic is 6-1, having lost only to Westfield, the 2014 state Group A champion.
The winner of Monday's meet will advance to the state Non-Public A championship Saturday at The College of New Jersey in Ewing Township.
St. Augustine, which won its fifth straight Cape-Atlantic League American Conference title this year, is led by Colin McHugh, Zach Washart and Luke Snyder. The Prep's strong lineup also includes Andrew Burr, Matt Mahon, John Gregory, Chris Durbin, Alan Hsueh and Brendan Donnelly.
