Outlook: Atlantic City has the talent to contend for a Cape-Atlantic League championship and the South Jersey and state Group IV titles. Few teams can match the Vikings size, length and depth. Atlantic City could be without Daniels for the start of the season because of a medical condition. Thomas is a four-year varsity player with a penchant for sinking clutch shots. Bethea is a promising sophomore.


Egg Harbor Township

Coach: George McNally

Key returnees: Christian Estrada, 6-3, Sr., F; Austin Smith, 6-3, Sr., F

Outlook: The Eagles will rely on Estrada and Smith until the new players gain experience. Estrada is a three-year starter, who averaged 6.8 points last season. Smith is three-year varsity letter winner.


Holy Spirit

Key returnees: C.J. Barnes, 6-2, Sr. G; Tyler Jones, 6-7, Sr., F; Travis Stoll, 6-1, So., G; Drew Gallagher, 5-9, So., G.

Outlook: Barnes tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the spring. He could return in February. Jones averaged 12.9 points last season and gives the Spartans an inside presence. Gallagher, Stoll and Marczyk lead a talented sophomore class.


Mainland Regional

Outlook: The Mustangs have plenty of size with Deveney, O’Neill and Osuniyi, but they lack consistent perimeter shooting. Jackson is a three-year starter in the backcourt. Mainland should contend for a spot in the CAL Tournament.


Millville

Outlook: Returning starters Carlton Lawrence and Jordan Fitchett will be the top Thunderbolts to watch this season.


Vineland

Outlook: The Fighting Clan graduated five players and will be led by Quijada and Carter. Teague is a 6-foot-6 freshman who has a lot of potential and could see some significant playing time.


National Division

Bridgeton

Outlook: The Bulldogs graduated eight of their top 10 players from last season’s team. But Bell is one of the state’s best athletes with several football scholarship offers. Weldon started several games as a sophomore last season, while Mosley is a tenacious on-the-ball defender.


Lower Cape May Regional

Outlook: The Panthers must overcome the loss of sophomore guard Corey Greer, who transferred to Camden after averaging 11.9 points as a freshman last season. But the Panthers feature a veteran backcourt in Toney (7.9 ppg) and Fitzpatrick. Fala gives the Panthers size inside.


Oakcrest

Coach: Frank Brown (89-89, eight seasons)

Outlook: The Falcons return a strong core of seniors, including Britt, Burch and Elliot.


Ocean City

Outlook: The Red Raiders return a veteran team. Laverty averaged 18.7 points last season and is one of the CAL’s top players. Ocean City will look to play an uptempo style and minimize turnovers this season.


St. Augustine Prep

Outlook: The Hermits are the defending Cape-Atlantic League champions and should contend for a state Non-Public A title. Nelson and Mutts (14 points, 12 rebounds) are dynamic players. Kennedy (9 pts) is underrated and an excellent defender and outside shooter. Reyes, a transfer from Philadelphia, can run the floor.


United Division

Atlantic County Institute of Technology

Outlook: Senior forward Watson returns after posting 10 points and six rebounds per game last season. Senior guard Sieg (4 points per game, 3 assists per game) and senior Jenkins (6 points , 2 assists per game) also return. Guard Grate is a senior newcomer that is expected to contribute.


Buena Regional

Coach: Andrew Mack (17-33, two seasons)

Outlook: Senior shooting guard Velazquez posted 10.6 points per game last season as a starter and will be expected to lead the offense. Senior Cruz, another returning starter, posted 7.6 points per game, and Buena’s other senior returning starter, Wesley Shannon, averaged 7.3 points per game.


Cape May Tech

Coach: Josh Mercado (5-20, one season)

Group: South Jersey Group I

Outlook: Cape May Tech is young, and looks to improve every day with Abbott, Palm and Thompson as leaders. Wright is a good prospect.


Cedar Creek

Outlook: Cedar Creek boasts a strong lineup with five returning starters. Senior guard Gaines averaged 15.5 points per game. Another returner, senior forward Davis, posted 12.1 points per game to go with 6.1 rebounds, while junior forward Watson added 6.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.


Pleasantville

Outlook: The Greyhounds have a strong returning roster after keeping many returning starters like Bridgers and Allen. The two each averaged 11 points a game and Morgan returns to lead a solid defense.


St. Joseph

Outlook: The Wildcats have talent but the challenge will be to blend all the new faces into a cohesive team. Tverijonas is eligible immediately. He was born in Lithuania but played in Baltimore last season.


Wildwood Catholic

Coach: Dave DeWeese (209-142, 13 seasons)

Group: South Jersey Non-Public B

2015-16 prediction: Favorite

Key returnees: Will Bell, 6-4, Sr., F; D.J. Smith, 6-2, Sr., G; Trey Smith, 6-1, Jr., G; Ryan Legler, 6-0, Jr., 6; Caleb Fields, 6-0, So., G; Charles Fields, 6-1, So., G.

Top newcomer: Mike DiCave, 6-6, Sr., F; Jalen Freeman, 6-0, Fr., G/F.

Outlook: The Crusaders should be one of the top teams in South Jersey. They are the favorites to win the CAL United Division and should be a top contender to earn a top-three seed in the CAL Tournament. Wildwood Catholic should give opposing defenses fits with its ability to put five players on the floor that can all shoot from beyond the arc.


Shore Conference

Barnegat

Coach: Mike Puorro (13-13, one season)

Division/Group: B South/South Jersey Group II

Outlook: The Bengals are a young team, led by Camarato, who averaged 12.4 points last year, and by point guard Revello (6 points, 4.7 assists).


Lacey Township

Coach: Ryan O’Rourke (86-78, seven seasons)

2015-16 prediction: Rebuilding

Outlook: The Lions returned four starters and could be competitive in Shore A South. Dellavolla, a good shooter, was injured last year. Biele, the point guard, is a key player.


Pinelands Regional

Outlook: The team’s 14 wins last year was the most in the history of the program, and Pinelands might improve on that this year. The Wildcats have four starters back in Lunn (16 point average), Stambaugh (11 points), Suarez (8 points, 7 rebounds) and Jenkins (6 points, 4 rebounds).


Southern Regional

Outlook: The Rams should contend for the Shore Conference A South title and could surprise in South Jersey Group IV. Wejnert will attend Pace University, a Division II school in New York. He averaged 24.9 points and 9.8 rebounds last season. DuBois averaged eight assists and two steals per game last season.


Tri-County Conference

Cumberland Regional
