The Egg Harbor Township High School boys indoor track and field team and the Southern Regional High School girls won South Jersey Group IV team titles Sunday at the Bennett Center in Toms River.

EHT won the Group IV sectional boys title with 49 points. Kofi Yamoah broke his own meet record in the shot put with a distance of 58 feet, 51/2 inches. Yamoah’s old meet mark was 57-7 from last year. Teammate Curtis Fitzpatrick won the 55-meter dash for the second year in a row for the Eagles. His time was 6.52 seconds.

Finishing second for EHT were Fitzpatrick in the shot put (58-41/2), and the 4x400-meter relay team of Martin Maldonado, Maurice Bynum, Nate Henry and Adam Bynum (3 minutes, 28.55 seconds).

Southern took the Group IV sectional girls championship with 57.5 points. Southern’s Brianna Angellella won the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 2 inches.

The Rams got second-place finishes from Melana Hammell in the 800 meters (2:18.81), and Samantha Burns in the pole vault (9-6).

Also in Group IV boys, Vineland’s LeQuan James won the 800 in 2:00.42, and teammate Christian Castro took the 55-meter hurdles in 7.67. Egg Harbor Township’s Lola Agabalogun won the Group IV girls shot put with a distance of 39-9. Nabiya Garrett was second in the 55 dash (7.49),

Lacey Township placed second in the Group III girls meet, and Danielle Leavitt won the 800 and the 1,600 for the Lions. Leavitt broke her meet record in the 1,600 in 5:04.21. Her old meet mark from last year was 5:08.57. Leavitt won the 800 in 2:18.48.

Oakcrest placed third in the South Jersey Group III boys meet. Chase Toliver led the Falcons by winning the 55 hurdles in 7.68.

Hammonton’s Lou Corgliano won the Group III 3,200 run in 9:35.74, and teammate Aidan Skelly was first in the pole vault with a height of 13-0.

Absegami’s Salman Khalid was second in the Group IV 1,600 (4:27.43) and second in the 3,200 (9:41.95). Millville’s William Poley was second in the Group IV pole vault (11-6). Second in Group III boys were Ocean City’s Kevin Scott in the 3,200 (9:37.27) and Oakcrest’s Shane Bush in the high jump (6-0).

Lacey’s Zakiya Thomas was second in the Group III girls shot put (35-2). Ocean City’s Mary Kate Brelsford was second in the Group III 3,200 (11:26.57).

Third in Group IV boys were Milville’s Ryquell Armstead in the 55 dash (6.64), James of Vineland in the 400 (51.25), and EHT’s James Plummer in the shot put (58-2). Group III boys third-place finishes were by Ishmael Muhammad of Oakcrest in the 800 (1:56.27), teammate Ray Rodriguez in the pole vault (12-0) and the Oakcrest 4x400 relay team (3:32.86).

Group IV girls third places were by Southern’s Angellella in the 400 (59.30), teammate Isabel Barsch in the shot put (36-41/4), MyAngel Davis in the 55 hurdles (8.89), and the Southern 4x400 relay team (4:02.71). Third in Group III girls were Ocean City’s Bridget Flynn in the 800 (2:19.23), and the Oakcrest 4x400 relay team (4:11.36).

The top six individuals, including ties, in each event and each group advanced to the state indoor track and field championships at the Bennett Center next weekend.
