Pleasantville High School senior twins Isaac and Jacob Clark turned in stellar performances at the Hispanic Games indoor track an field meet in New York City on Saturday.
Isaac won the 800-meter run in 1 minute, 52.48 seconds. Jacob finished second in 1:52.53 at the Armory in New York City.
The times are the first and second fastest in the country, respectively, in the country this winter, according to USA.milesplit.com — a website that follows national high school track and field.
The Hispanic Games feature many of the East Coast’s top high school track and field athletes.
Jacob led the almost the entire race. Isaac nipped him at the finish lime. Isaac’s time was a meet record. The identical twins are among the state’s top middle distance runners.
“It was a beautiful (scene),” Pleasantville coach Alan Laws said, “especially since they’re twins. I’m surprised the announcer got their names right.”
Both twins broke the local and South Jersey record indoor record of 1:53.51 set by Alan Laws Jr., the coach’s son, in 2007.
