Matt Szczur gets one hit in first game for Daytona Cubs since May 31.

DH Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 1-for-3 with two walks in the Daytona Cubs’ 3-1 win over the Clearwater Threshers on Friday night. Szczur, who had not played since May 31 due to a knee injury, is hitting .268 with 43 runs scored and 19 stolen bases in 49 games in the Advanced Class A Florida State League.

CF Darren Ford (Vineland) of the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) went 0-for-5 in a 6-4 win against the Reno Aces (Diamondbacks) in a triple-A Pacific Coast League game. He is hitting .261. Ford went 1-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a strikeout Thursday in a 9-1 win against the Aces.

LHP Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) and the Class A Everett AquaSox (Mariners) were rained out against the Spokane Indians. DeCecco pitched 1.2 innings in a 10-inning, 7-6 win over Spokane in a Northwest League game Thursday. DeCecco allowed two hits and one run. He also had one walk.

LF Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Eugene Emeralds (Padres) lost 6-4 to the Boise Hawks (Cubs) in a short-season Class A Northwest League game. Colon is hitting .200.
