Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 1-for-3 with one double, one run, one RBI, one walk and one strikeout in the Daytona Cubs’ 5-3 loss to the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Sunday in the Advanced-A Florida State League. Szczur is batting .290 in 48 games. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in a 5-2 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays on Saturday.
Darren Ford (Vineland) and the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) lost 12-3 to the Fresno Grizzlies (Giants) in a triple-A Pacific Coast League game Sunday. Ford went 1-for-4 with a double, one run and one strikeout. Ford is hitting .345. He 2-for-5 with an RBI in a 9-1 win over Fresno on Saturday.
Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) was 0-for-2 with two walks and two strikeouts and was hit by a pitch as the Eugene Emeralds (Padres) beat the Everett AquaSox 5-4 inn 11 innings in the short-season Class A Northwest League on Sunday. Colon, an outfielder, is hitting .111 (2-for-18) with one home run and two RBIs in seven games. The Emeralds’ game against the Vancouver Canadians was postponed due to rain Saturday.
Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) of Everett did not pitch against Eugene on Sunday. He is 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA in four games.
