Mike Trout of Millville is a rookie outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was The Press Player of the Year that season.

Tuesday: Trout was 1-for-5 with a stolen base and three strikeouts in a 6-1 loss to the Mariners in Seattle.

I think you’re seeing a guy who has the potential to drive the ball like he does. He’s just been doing it with frequency that he thought he eventually would get to. But this guy, I mean, he’s a hitter with power. And I think his (opposite-field) power is a difference-maker.”
