A list of the hot topics, teams, athletes and personalities in high school sports this week.

1. Rain: The spring season began with poor weather and the trend continued this week with most baseball and softball games being postponed. What a headache for everyone involved!

2. St. Augustine Prep baseball: Hermits (19-3) will try to defend their Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic title this weekend.

3. Vineland softball: Fighting Clan (17-2) advanced to South Jersey Group IV quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over ACIT on Tuesday.

4. Middle Township golf: The Panthers finished undefeated for the fourth straight season and won their eighth consecutive Cape-Atlantic League National Division championship.

5. Middle Township boys tennis: Panthers have won four straight Cape-Atlantic League National Conference titles.

6. J.C. Valore: The St. Augustine boys lacrosse got career victory No. 200 earlier this month.

7. Ocean City girls lacrosse: Red Raiders (15-1) have won 23 straight against CAL teams.

8. Holy Spirit baseball: The Spartans (14-7) are the CAL United Division champions.

9. Mainland Regional girls softball: Mustangs (19-4) are the Cape-Atlantic League National Division champions.

10. Egg Harbor Township softball: The Eagles (12-5) are peaking at the right time with a five-game winning streak that includes victories over Vineland and Millville.
