Holy Spirit 3.5,
No. 11 Middle Township 1.5
From Press staff reports
The Holy Spirit High School girls tennis team defeated Middle Township on Monday 3-11/2, to claim a share of the Cape-Atlantic League National Conference title.
"I suppose it's fitting since we are so close in each set, game (against each other) and our records." Middle's coach Tracey Hall said about the shared title.
Holy Spirit coach Diane Kresz said her team improved throughout the season to earn a share of the title with Middle, the No. 11 team in The Press Elite 11.
"From where we started in the beginning of the season and to where we've ended up just goes to show that hard work always pays off. " Kresz said.
The point for second doubles was split due to darkness.
Spirit's Julia Dalzell remains undefeated in match play going into the Cape-Atlantic League individual finals today at 4 p.m. at Vineland High School.
