The Middle Township High School girls tennis team beat visiting Holy Spirit 3-2 on Thursday. The score was 2-2 but Middle's Ashley Ryan clinched the victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win at third singles.

Middle Township coach Tracey Hall, the Panthers coach for 20 years, said that it was Middle's first win over Holy Spirit since the 1990s.

The Panthers doubles teams of Darby Crowdin and Chelsea Fossett, and Maddie Ellis and Lauren Novsak were also winners. Holy Spirit wins were by Julia Dalzell and Emery Gewirtz, at first and second singles, respectively.

Singles-Julia Dalzell HS d Taylor Schad 6-1, 6-3; Emery Gewirtz HS d Jen Ney 6-2, 6-1; Ashley Ryan MT d Kelly Gross 7-5, 6-3.

Doubles-Darby Crowding-Chelsea Fossett MT d Carly Harbright-Olivia Valiante 6-0, 6-2; Maddie Ellis-Lauren Novsak MT d Veronica Orecchia-Cassidy Rumpf 6-3, 6-0.

Records-Middle 4-1, H.S. 2-2.
