The Barnegat High School girls volleyball team upset No. 14 seed Manchester Township 2-0 in the opening round of the State Group II tournament Friday.
Sara Ridgeway led Barnegat, the No. 19 seed, with eight kills and one block.
The Bengals (13-11) won by scores of 25-14 and 25-20.
Meg Nichols contributed 10 digs and four kills. Nichols and Morgan Mitchell each had three aces. Kelsey Ritner added two aces and 16 assists.
Barnegat will play at third-seeded Ramapo in the Round of 16.
