The Cinnaminson High School baseball team edged visiting Middle Township 3-2 on Friday in a South Jersey Group II quarterfinal game. Pirates pitcher John Bednarek went the distance and gave up two hits, with eight strkeouts and two walks.

Middle's Zack Vogelei hit a solo homer in the fifth inning. Justin Lent hit a sacrifice fly for the fifth-seeded Panthers in the top of the seventh inning. Middle pitcher Doug Schwartz lost for the first time this season, allowing six hits, with two walks and three strikeouts.

Cinnaminson's Marty McDonald was 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

The fourth-seeded Pirates play the winner between top-seeded Buena Regional and No. 8 Haddonfield Memorial on Tuesday in a Group II semifinal game.
