From Press staff reports
The Barnegat High School boys lacrosse team remained unbeaten on the season, winning a huge Shore Conference game Wednesday.
The Bengals beat Lacey Township 7-6, improving to 8-0 as well as 8-0 in the Shore. They are No. 10 in The Press Elite 11.
"It was a big win today," Barnegat coach Ryan Dalon said on the phone. "Both teams were coming in to today with winning records. It was a battle."
Ryan Reynolds and Ricky Gerena scored two goals each for Barnegat. Ethan Tonneson had four assists as well.
Dalon said defender Greg Moran had a great day defensively. Barnegat goalie Matt Grobelny had another strong day in net, stopping 15 shots.
"Grobelny is just amazing out there," Dalon said. "He makes some tough saves, ones he wouldn't have made over a year ago. When it looks like the ball is going in he finds a way to make that save."
Lacey was led by Joe Long and Dan Cannon with two goals each. The Lions are now 9-2, and 6-1 in the Shore.
