From Press staff reports

Mike Gesicki scored a game-high 24 points to reach his 1,000th point as Southern Regional defeated Brick Memorial 72-67 in a Shore Conference boys basketball game Monday.

"I've been thinking about scoring my 1,000th point since I first walked into the gym and saw the banner with all the guys' names on it," Gesicki said. "To know now that I'm apart of that group is pretty unbelievable and now that it's here it's just surreal."

"I couldn't have done it without my coaches and the players and all the support from everyone over my two years here at Southern Regional."

Gesicki also had 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Jake Logue scored 18 points, including five 3-pointers as the Rams took a 14-8 lead in the first quarter.

Mike Golden led Brick Memorial with 22 points.
