Mainland Regional High School's Alex Raring scored 29 points to pass 1,000 points for her career in a 57-53 loss to Millville in a Cape-Atlantic League American Conference game Friday.

Millville scored 28 points in the fourth quarter, including five 3-pointers, to come back for the victory.

Raring entered the game with 997 and now has 1,026 points for her career. It was also her third straight game with 20 or more points.

Raring reached 1,000 points with a foul shot in the first quarter.

"I saw the schedule recently and I needed 39 points (to reach 1,000) going into the game at Vineland on Tuesday," said Raring, a 17-year-old senior from Linwood. "Luckily, I got 36 points and that meant I could get 1,000 points at home. Everyone came and supported me.

"It feels pretty good, I've been waiting for this for a while. It's awesome that it actually happened."

Katrina Gaskins scored all of her team-high 18 points in the second half to lead the Thunderbolts' rally. Millville, which extended its winning streak to 11 games, was down 42-29 after three quarters.
