Southern Regional tops St. Rose in ice hockey

Southern Regional High School’s John Puskas scored two goals to lead the Rams’ ice hockey team to a 4-2 win over St. Rose on Monday at Winding River Ice Rink in Toms River.

St. Rose, of Belmar, took a 1-0 lead but Puskas tied it in the first period. Southern went up 3-1 in the second period, with Puskas scoring the third goal with 6 minutes, 24 seconds left.

John Rowland added a goal and two assists for the Rams, while Brian Aji had one goal and Tom Godfrey had two assists.

Southern goalie Kyle Pinder made 18 saves.

Southern Regional 1 2 1—4

Goals—Leather, McKerry SR. Puskas (2), Aji, Rowland SO.

Goalies—Terracciano (14) SR. Pinder; (18) SO. .

Records—Southern 8-4.
